Who we are
Building the Bridge to Independence.
The WorkAbility Group is a Spanish Fork, Utah nonprofit that combines clinical therapy with real retail work in a single environment. Our flagship pilot, The WorkAbility Coffee & Community Hub, is a working café and bookstore — Whole Latte Love & Books — where individuals with disabilities train, work, and earn alongside coworkers and therapists who provide support in the moment, not in a classroom.
Our mission
Where therapy meets real life, work, and independence. Through our therapy arm, Bloom, Grow, Thrive Therapies, we deliver Applied Behavior Analysis, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy in the same environment where clients are already building work skills and customer relationships.
Why we exist
Individuals with disabilities and their families face four connected problems when childhood services end:
- The support cliff. Childhood therapies, IEPs, and school-based supports disappear abruptly at adulthood, leaving individuals without a continuous path forward.
- Fragmentation. Therapy, job training, and employment are delivered by separate organizations that don't coordinate, so skills learned in one setting rarely transfer to another.
- No real-world work experience. Traditional programs teach skills in classrooms or simulations, with limited access to actual paying work or real customer interactions.
- Families navigating alone. Parents and caregivers are left to assemble a patchwork of providers, appointments, and funding sources without a single point of support.
What makes us different
- Not a therapy center A living workplace
- Not job training Real paid experience
- Not short-term support A lifelong pathway
- Not a charity A community asset
- Not dependence Designed for independence
We do not have a "therapy room" — the workplace is the therapy environment. Trainees are paid employees, not volunteers or interns: they earn real wages, and customers pay for their coffee with real money. And we don't age people out — the pathway is continuous from adolescence into adulthood.
One organization, three parts
- Bloom, Grow, Thrive Therapies — the clinical foundation: ABA, occupational, speech, and physical therapy delivered directly inside the workplace.
- Whole Latte Love & Books — a real café and bookstore, open to the public, where skills are practiced with real customers for real pay.
- The WorkAbility Group — the umbrella organization that scales the model into additional businesses and community partnerships across Utah.
These come together at our flagship site: The WorkAbility Coffee & Community Hub in Spanish Fork — a functional small business, a workforce training environment, and a community gathering space in one place. See our programs for how the model works day to day.
Where we are today
Founded in 2024, we've designed the full ecosystem and brought the Hub to shovel-ready: fully defined in scope, financially structured, and ready for implementation on a 12-month timeline from funding confirmation. At full capacity, the Hub is built to serve 20–30 trainees annually and create hundreds of daily community touchpoints in Spanish Fork — a replicable framework for communities across Utah, and eventually beyond.
"Disability is a matter of perception. If you can do just one thing well, you're needed by someone."
— Martina Navratilova
